SPARC was founded by hams that were active in the Scouting America (former Boy Scouts of America). The club continues to participate in many scouting activities such as Camporees, Fox Hunts, JOTA/JOTI (Jamboree on the Air/Jamboree on the Internet) providing radio related activities and support.

The club also hold periodic ham radio licensing exam sessions and occasional license classes.

We have a station at the club meeting location that includes HF and VHF/UHF equipment including digital modes.
